Real estate agents regularly over-promise and under-deliver. They aren't entirely at fault because the real estate industry is set up to provide incentives for those who tell owners they can get a higher price than their competitors. In many cases, the agent may have truly believed they could sell a house for a specific amount, or maybe they needed the business and believed they needed to exaggerate the price to win your business.
Fortunately, for owners in this situation, there is that there is another way - selling directly to an owner, without an agent (sometimes referred to as FSBO, or For Sale By Owner). The difficult part is going through all of the advertising yourself and trying to weed through countless emails and phone calls to find the right buyer.
The great news is, since you found us you may have already bypassed the hardest parts.
